This page provides information on the Tiled texture options rollout in the Settings tab.
The Tiled texture options rollout is accessible through the Settings tab of the Render Settings. These options give direct UI access to texture-related operations that were once only accessible through Environment Variables.
||Render Setup Window|| > Settings tab > Tiled texture options rollout
(When V-Ray Adv is the Production renderer)
||Render Setup Window|| > V-Ray RT tab > Tiled texture options rollout
(When V-Ray RT is the Production renderer)
Cache size (MB) – Specifies the size, in megabytes, of a separate texture cache to be used for tiled OpenEXR files. Note: The cache size can not be decreased from it's initial render value. If you set it lower, the value will not be used by Max until you restart the application.
Clear cache on render end – Causes V-Ray to clear the texture cache after a frame is complete in order to avoid slowdowns.
- If you set the VRAY_TEXTURE_CACHE environment variable, the Cache size parameter will override the variable if it's greater than the variable value.
- If you set the VRAY_TEXTURE_CACHE environment variable, the Cache size parameter will be ignored if the variable's value is greater than the setting in the parameter.
- If you have not set the VRAY_TEXTURE_CACHE environment variable, the Cache size parameter will essentially set it for your current session.
- The Cache size value can only be increased after rendering (i.e. the first render sets the value on the system, which V-Ray will use for the rest of the session. The value can not be lowered during that session and requires restarting the application to reduce the memory size of the cache).
