This page provides information on the Unfiltered Map.
The VRayBmpFilter texture map is mostly useful for per-polygon displacement maps created in certain external programs (like ZBrush) where exact placement of the map is very important. The VRayBmpFilter map produces a smooth map by interpolating the bitmap pixels, but without applying any additional blurring or smoothing. This is not possible with the default Bitmap texture of 3ds Max. The example shown here uses a 32bit OpenEXR texture extracted in Mudbox as a displacement map.
This texture map is obsolete. Use the VRayHDRI texture map instead.

Bitmap – Specifies the bitmap file. This can be in any format supported by 3ds Max.
U offset – Allows the user to position the bitmap more precisely; the value is in pixels of the bitmap.
V offset – Allows the user to position the bitmap more precisely; the value is in pixels of the bitmap.
Flip U – Flips the bitmap in the horizontal direction.
Flip V – Flips the bitmap in the vertical direction.
Channel – Mapping channel from which the UV coordinates are derived.
