  • V-Ray RT is a renderer on its own, while V-Ray IPR is a tool that works in conjunction with the full-featured V-Ray Adv renderer.
  • V-Ray RT works by exporting the scene or translating it to prepare it for the renderer. Conversely, the V-Ray IPR can directly render the scene, which makes it a faster option.

 

Settings for the behavior of the VFB when using IPR rendering can be found on the IPR options rollout under the Settings tab in the Render Setup window.

While IPR is running, if the Fit resolution to VFB option is enabled in the IPR options rollout, the render will refresh to fill the VFB if the VFB window is resized. The render output size will also change accordingly.

  • When V-Ray RT is set as the Production renderer, ActiveShade rendering will be used instead of V-Ray IPR.
  • V-Ray IPR will render V-Ray Render Elements, although it will not track changes to the render elements and the render will need to be refreshed.
  • V-Ray IPR is still under development, so specific features like Atmospheric effects may not be available at this time. Supported Support for additional features is being added in subsequent builds.
  • V-Ray IPR doesn't support 3ds max default lights.
