V-Ray includes a shelf with easy shortcuts to some of the most commonly used V-Ray components. The shelf can be added to the shelf dock the first time you launch Houdini with V-Ray installed.

Button | Description |
---|---|
Render | Starts a Production render and launches the VFB window. Note: A camera must be set in the viewport to start the render. |
Submit | Submits a render job to Chaos Cloud. For more information on Cloud rendering with V-Ray, see the Rendering in Chaos Cloud. |
Show VFB | Launches the V-Ray Frame Buffer window. |
Physical Camera | Adds V-Ray Physical Camera properties to the active Houdini Camera. |
Object Properties | Adds a number of properties on per-object basis. See the Object Properties page for more information. |
Displacement Properties | Assigns displacement properties to a Geometry node. |
Hair Properties | Assigns V-Ray Hair Properties to the selected Geometry node. |
Export VRayProxy | Opens the Create V-Ray Proxy window. |
Import VRayProxymaterialCreates a VRayProxy node inside of a selected Geometry node | Imports material from a .vrscene file. Select the correct file path to import the material in Houdini. |
FumeFX Fire/Smoke Preset | Sets up a V-Ray Volume Grid Shader with settings suitable for rendering FumeFX simulations. |
Houdini Fire/Smoke Preset | Sets up a V-Ray Volume Grid Shader with settings suitable for rendering Houdini Pyro simulations. |
Houdini Liquid Preset | Sets up a V-Ray Volume Grid Shader with settings suitable for rendering Houdini FLIP simulations (currently unavailable). |
Maya Fluid Preset | Sets up a V-Ray Volume Grid Shader with settings suitable for rendering Maya Fluids simulations. |
