2.8 GPU AlSurface

In this lesson we will take a look at the ALSurface Material, an incredibly realistic looking skin shader, and explore how to use it while harnessing the enhanced speed of GPU rendering.

The V-Ray AL Surface shader is V-Ray’s implementation of Anders Langland’s ALsurface Shader, which is designed to reproduce the appearance of skin. The current V-Ray version takes into account diffuse, two levels of reflection, and subsurface scattering.

In this scene we have a model of a female head and some preset studio lighting set up. The shaders for the eyes and hairs are already applied, and we have displacement on the base mesh of the head for finer details.
