Starting and Stopping V-Ray License Server
If you registered the license server to run as a service during the installation, it will be registered as a start-up item by the installer. In that case, you can use the /sbin/SystemStarter command to start/stop the license server with the following commands in a Terminal window:
$ sudo /sbin/SystemStarter start vrlservice
$ sudo /sbin/SystemStarter stop vrlservice
If the license server is not registered as a service, then you can run it directly from its install location which by default is: /Applications/ChaosGroup/VRLService/snow_leopard_x86/bin. Make sure that the dongle is plugged in. Double-click the vrlservice application in Finder to run the license server. To stop the license server, right-click on its icon and choose Quit .
The V-Ray license server can be registered to automatically run at login. To do that start it manually, then right click on its icon and from the Options menu select Open at Login
V-Ray License Settings Change
If you are running the V-Ray license server on a different machine, you need to tell V-Ray for SketchUp where to look for it. To do this, run the setvrlservice program from the /Applications/Autodesk/maya 20xx /vray/bin directory. In the terminal write
Run the setvrlservice program from the /Applications/ASGVIS/Dongle Utilities / directory, e.g:
This will show you the window below, where you can specify the IP address of the machine that is running the V-Ray License Server. Please do not change the connection port that is set by default to 30304.
For example, if the license server machine has IP address of 10.0.0.100, you have to put that address in the “License server” field, under the tab “Primary license server”.
This setting is per user; if there are many users running V-Ray for SketchUp on the machine, you will need to set the license server location for each of them.
